This is a show that deals directly with feelings of isolation, dread, and political despair. It is an interview with a woman who has given herself fully to misery. For her, misery is both a state of grace and a new form of perverse political action. The interview gradually morphs into a series of strange games that require audience participation and are meant to prime the audience into accepting her agenda: the end of human history. Protec/Attac is a performance about misery, hopelessness, and following directions.

About Peter Mills Weiss and Julia Mounsey
We collaborate together. Our work wrestles with questions of cruelty, authenticity, deception, entertainment, and power. We value simple language, functional design, autobiography, and vulnerability. Our last show, While You Were Partying, was one of Time Out NY’s top ten shows of 2021. Recent work has been presented at Soho Rep, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus, and the Brick Theater. We were both members of the 2017-2019 Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, the 2017-2018 Devised Theater Working Group at the Public Theater, and were Baryshnikov Arts Center Resident Artists in 2019.
