Yara Travieso

Yara Travieso is a Brooklyn Cuban-Venezuelan artist creating films, performances, and protests. Travieso is a NYSCA grantee, a United States Artist Arison Fellow, a Creative Capital recipient, and a winner of NALAC via The Ford Foundation. Her productions have been featured in NYC’s Park Avenue Armory, Lincoln Center, Opéra National de Lorraine, The Knockdown Center, EMPAC among others. Her films have been presented with El Museo, Film at Lincoln Center, MoCA Chicago, SXSW, NYLFF, PBS, among others. In 2003, Travieso co-founded the Borscht Film Festival. She has organized protests with LASTESIS & The Women’s March for 25k participants. Currently on faculty at The Juilliard School (Dance BFA 2009), Travieso has led talks with: The Ford Foundation, The Park Avenue Armory, MoMa, BAM, NYU and many others.
